Chinese Government Tightening Supervision on Waterproof Materials Quality

In order to prevent more residents fall victim to this vicious market competition, as early as in 2003, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of PRC has taken firm action to restrict, prohibit and eliminate the use of out-of-date waterproof technology and products. However, since low-quality waterproof products have not been entirely banished from the market, in recent years the Chinese government has been enhancing its supervision over product quality. 

 

For example, at the beginning of 2013, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of PRC released an official document to tighten the market access rules for waterproof manufacturers, covering production scale, crafts and equipment, resource consumption, environmental protection, etc. And the result of this measure is very prominent. 

 

 

At the 2016 National Conference of Building Waterproof Products Quality Improvement, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of PRC (AQSIQ) announced that 90% of sample enterprises had passed the national spot check conducted in 2016 concerning waterproof sheet membrane and coating. As for those enterprise that failed the check, AQSIQ observed that they would closely follow up to make sure they would cease manufacturing and selling nonconforming products and strictly demand them to rectify and reform within allotted time.
